Colour formats explained
HEX writes red, green and blue as three two-digit hexadecimal numbers (#0a6b47). RGB gives the same channels as 0 to 255 values. HSL describes hue (0 to 360°), saturation and lightness, which is easier for making lighter or darker shades.
Contrast and accessibility
WCAG asks for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. The tool reports contrast against white and black so you can choose readable text on any background.
